About Us

I was inspired as a young guitarist after seeing the Beatles in live concert. Since then, I have been a lifelong guitarist and bassist developing a love for the instruments. After retiring from my CPA practice, I studied under Master Luthier Robbie O'brien to build acoustic guitars, and have built guitars for many professional musicians. This ultimately led to referrals for repair services, as building acoustic guitars provides excellent background experiences for repair and servicing guitars. My former background instilled a meticulous attention to detail that serves me in my endeavors in building custom, hand-crafted, acoustic guitars and repair services.

Professional Setup

Proper neck relief, playing action, and intonation is essential to get the best performance, effortless playing, and best tone from your instrument. Even new instruments often have need of a setup from shipping, temperature and humidity changes. I can help you get the best from your instrument whether you are a beginner, or a seasoned musician.

Refret

When the frets have become so worn they can no longer be dressed or leveled, then a refret is necessary. This involves removing all of the frets, re-leveling and re-radiusing the fretboard, and installing new frets as well as a new bone nut. After leveling, crowing, and polishing the new frets, the guitar will be better than original.

Repairs

A number of other issues can befall a guitar requiring minor to significant repairs and services. Such items may include new nuts and saddles, bridge issues, neck resets, cracks in the sides, backs, or soundboards, fixing loose braces, cracked or broken headstocks, installing acoustic pickups, repairing electric wiring, removing and replacing pickguards, replacing tuning machines, and many other services.

Fret Dress

If a guitar has "buzzing" issues, or excessive wear and divots in the fretwire, then a fret dress, or fret level can address those issues and have the guitar playing like new again. This involves leveling and re-crowning the frets, and polishing them so they are all even, giving each string the best contact across the length and width of the fretboard.

Custom hand-crafted acoustic guitars

The iconic manufacturers of acoustic guitars, such as Gibson, Taylor, Guild, and many others, produce some really good guitars that are beautiful, play well, and sound good. However for the very discerned ear, the custom built, hand-crafted acoustic guitar can give a more robust, refined sound and tone due to manufacturing differences inherent in mass production versus hand crafted guitars. Custom built guitars typically have a much higher price but I price my guitars to be competitive with the big manufacturers, but giving the buyer some choices as to design, woods, finishes, etc, while maintaining the excellent performance metrics of a custom, hand-crafted guitar.
